E’ sempre un’emozione il momento in cui si impianta un nuovo vigneto; per garantire una qualità costante nel tempo è necessario piantare adesso le viti che cominceranno poi a dare pieni frutti fra qualche anno. Abbiamo impiantato un nuovo appezzamento di Cabernet Sauvignon; la disposizione geometrica delle piante (tecnicamente detto “sesto d’impianto”) è di 2,5 metri per 0,8.
Il ciclo di vita della vite è piuttosto lungo e comincia appunto con la messa a terra delle “barbatelle”, le piantine di vite. I primi tre anni circa serviranno alla vite per crescere e formarsi e in questo periodo non vi sarà produzione di frutti; questo è anche il periodo in cui il viticoltore come un vero e proprio scultore, darà alle piante la forma desiderata attraverso un’adeguata potatura e cura; molto probabilmente utilizzeremo l’impostazione del cordone speronato anche per questa vigna.

It ‘s always an emotion the moment when we implant a new vineyard, to ensure a constant quality over time is necessary now planting the vines which then begin to give full production in a few years. We planted a new plot of Cabernet Sauvignon, the geometric arrangement of the plants (technically called “sixth plant”) is 2.5 meters by 0.8.
The life cycle of the vine is quite long and begins just with the grounding of the “barbatelle” (small vine plants). About the first three years will be used by the screw to grow and develop, and in this period there will be no production of fruits; this is also the period in which the grower as a true sculptor, will give the plants the desired shape through an adequate pruning and care; most likely we will use the setting of the spurred cordon for this vineyard.

Dopo il quarto anno la tipologia di potatura cambia e l’obbiettivo non è più quello di dare la forma alle piante ma si comincia a finalizzare la potatura alla corretta produttività; ancora le viti non sono in piena produzione, si otterrà per il momento un 30% della quantità ottimale.
Solo a partire dal settimo anno la produzione sarà a pieno regime e probabilmente continuerà così fino al trentesimo anno circa, per poi giungere ad un abbassamento della produttività con un innalzamento ulteriore della qualità delle uve. Tutto questo comincia adesso e potremo vedere questo vigna crescere ed evolvere negli anni.
